JERRY EDWARDS, P.E., ELECTED AS CHAIR OF
AMERICAN WATER WORKS ASSOCIATION
ENGINEERING MODELING APPLICATIONS COMMITTEE (EMAC)

Arcadia, CA USA, June, 8 2011 - Jerry Edwards, P.E., Vice President of Engineering Service for IDModeling, has been elected Chair of American Water Works Association's (AWWA's) Engineering Modeling Applications Committee (EMAC). He will succeed Laura Jacobsen, P.E. of Las Vegas Valley Water District beginning his term at the conclusion of AWWA's Annual Conference & Exposition (June 12 -16, 2011, in Washington, D.C).

Mr. Edwards is a recognized industry expert in the area of model construction and calibration, water quality analyses, operational evaluations, energy management assessments, capacity assessments, and master planning for water distribution & wastewater collection systems. In his 23 years of experience, he has developed and applied models and master plans for utilities across the U.S. with populations of 5,000 to over 1,500,000. Mr. Edwards has published papers in the AWWA Journal on the subject of hydraulic modeling, GIS, and analysis, has previously served as the co-Chair and Secretary for the EMAC. He has lead the chapter updates on model calibration for the AWWA M32 Manual, and is a contributing author to ESRI's pending Hydraulic Modeling & GIS Book.

Jerry Edwards, states: "I am very much honored to serve as the next Chair of the Engineering Modeling Applications Committee and to have this opportunity to build on the impressive achievements of our past chairs and members. In our current economic landscape and the ever-pressing need to proactively and efficiently address aging infrastructure and improve operational efficiencies, the role of this committee to influence positive changes in how utilities deliver water has never been more relevant. I look forward to working with our members to strengthen and advance our mission during my term."

EMAC's mission is to assemble and disseminate information on the use of modeling, GIS, and data management in the design, analysis, operation, and protection of water system infrastructure. EMAC is currently in charge of updating the M32 Manual which provides an overview and guidance for computer modeling of water distribution systems. It covers data collection, model design, calibration, and the many uses for distribution system computer models.
